Getting up at 5:30 in the morning is probably the hardest part for me. The first day, I couldn't even understand what mrs. Beuttner was talking about but I think I'm catching on. I'm learning so many new things I can barely keep up AND IT IS AWESOME!
Hey it's Jenni. The first day was SO much fun. I am working in a second grade classroom, so my day was very interesting to say the least. I graded some papers, taught one little girl how to add, and helped the rest of the students write poems. Can't wait to see what the rest of the project has to bring!
Hey its Jessie! My first two days have been awesome! The kids call me Ms. Fiffick, and I feel so old and professional! I grade papers, administer dible tests, and have been assigned a reading group that I have to help out with! So far its been really great!
Hey guys. So far my project is great and my mentor is really nice. She's a neurologist/headache specialist and it's so cool to realize that people from all over Ohio and other states come to see her. On the first day I ended up being a quasi-translator! And on Friday, I'll be making the rounds with residents which I'm very excited for...I'll let you know if it really is how they show it on Scrubs ;)
Hi everyone! Its Kelsey. So far this week has been really great working with the Cleveland Gladiators staff.They have all been really nice to me and I have learned a lot in only a few days! Saturday they have a home game where I will be helping out and observing the game from behind the scenes. It should be fun!
Hi everyone... Its Keith Pech, well lets put it this way, I started off my first day roasting (not completely by myself...thank God) over 4,000 pounds of coffee and then grinded over 1000 pounds (that was by myself). Did a bit of manual work, so got a little workout going. Overall today was a decent experience long day...but definetly worth it. My clothing was so dark and looked rather muddy when I got home, but smelled like freshly roasted coffee. I couldn't really decide if that was good or bad... We will see how tomorrow goes!! :)
Hey it's Kat- just spent my first day floating around Severance. I have my own desk and extension number upstairs in management! And I got to watch rehearsal and talk to some musicians, eat their brownies backstage, and then help shuffle kids into the hall for an education concert.. tomorrow starts the concerts and I'm so excited to get in for free!
Hey everyone its Laszlo, first three days have been busy and educational. I was expecting that i was not going to be able to do much at Walgreen's Pharmacy in Strongsvile, but I had a lot thrown at me the first day! My very first day and they already had me counting out the pills (filling prescriptions), checking people out (pick-ups, drop offs etc.), the same for the drive-thru window, filing prescriptions on the computer, and answering the phone! When you stand for 5 hours straight working, you kinda miss sitting in a desk at school hah. The handshake really helped, my mentor must have talked about how good it was for like five minutes :). well anyway i hope you guys are having an experience just as wonderful as mine. ~Laszlo B.
Hey everyone its Elease. My week has been action packed! Who knew event planning could be so tiring. I am getting the opportunity to help plan the 2011 NCAA national championships in Cleveland next year. My mentor and I attended a "site meeting", which is where you go and visit the possible venue for the event. We looked at possible layouts for activities and such. I am loving every moment so far, well maybe not the working 8 hour days part. *Elease Moore*
its rachel! my first day was so awesome and i got a really good idea of what nurses actually do. i was in the cardiovascular ICU, where people are taken right after open heart or lung surgery. it was really intense and 12 hours seemed like a lifetime but i loved it and can't wait to go back!
its Joanie! I am LOVING my senior project. My mentor, Jacqui, is so energetic and enthusiastic, and the whole staff at DWCC is happy to have me there. It seems like no matter what I ask, someone has an answer and a good explanation. I am learning a lot of acronyms for all the studies going on there with medication/mental health, but sitting in with the patients is probably my favorite part. While observing patients I have attended their visits with Don, who works in the lab. helping hold test tubes of blood has probably been my least favorite part, but even that isn't too bad. Like I said, everyone is super friendly, I'm having fun, and I'm learning! I can't wait till next week!
My first week went extremely well. I love my mentor Andre Payten, he is so relaxed and easy going. The first week went amazing! I went to this Healthfair in Cleveland on Friday, to kind of show the importance of insurance and it was fun to show younger and older people how vital it is to all. Also I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, so far my Senior Project is going fantastic.
Hey everyone! So my first week was great! On Monday I shadowed in the Ireland Cancer Center under one of the head pediatric hematologist/oncologists. While there I observed patient visits; his patients had diseases such as leukemia, sickle cell, anemia, and IDP. He arranged for me to observe the administering of chemotherapy and a spinal tap on a patient with leukemia. The rest of the week I was in the pediatric ER shadowing the pediatric attending, who is my sponsor. She is a great teacher and very easy-going. I have learned a lot about patient-doctor interaction and the ER has a lot of interesting cases. Also, the residents are very welcoming. I worked the night shift Saturday night 3PM-3AM; you get some crazy stuff during those hours!
